Mary Ann Alger, Principal, CFO in Residence
Mary Ann Alger has over twenty years of experience in finance, small business consulting, and entrepreneurship. Her focus is on consulting with life science and alternative energy companies in their commercialization efforts.
Prior to moving to the Princeton area in 2005, she co-founded a bone therapeutics company in Ann Arbor, served as its CFO, and raised close to $4M in startup funding.
She taught entrepreneurship courses at the University of Michigan Business School, advised the Wolverine Venture Fund, and served on the board of the Great Lakes Entrepreneurs Quiest, a statewide network that conducts business plan competitions, provides entrepreneurs with targeted consulting and mentoring, and offers introductions to prospective investors.
Her clean energy credentials come from her work with the Terra Capital Fund; the Global Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund; and the Solar Development Fund
Earlier, she served as the senior investment officer for Latin America with a boutique investment bank in Virginia, originating and structuring investments in small, emerging companies and serving in an interim senior management capacity for companies in Mexico and Chile. Before that time, Ms. Alger worked in corporate and international banking in Miami and Washington, D.C. and spent several years doing valuations, securitizations, and privatizations throughout Latin American and the Caribbean.
Joanne Gere, Principal
Ms. Gere began her consulting career in 2002 to help growing life science companies. Engagements have included helping science-based teams with business model development, partnering, market reach, and capital raising efforts.
As a partner appreciative of the long road most inventors have already trodden, Ms. Gere brings vivid reality and strong relationships to bear in fostering entrepreneurial success.
An occasional investor, Ms. Gere is nurturing a rice-based oral rehydration drink; a financial marketing group established to provide legal immigrants and the underserved with an onramp to the American financial system, and several companies in the convergence and clean energy environments.
